Solution 1.

Change batteries within the interface unit. Start with new name brand batteries. Generic brands do not hold enough power to operate the interface box.

Solution 2.

Make certain your hardware is set up correctly. Click here for hardware set up instructions.

Solution 3.

Reinstall Fireplug (bluetooth) driver.

Windows 7/8.1/10

PLUG BLUETOOTH ADAPTER INTO THE COMPUTER BEFORE BEGINNING THIS PROCESS

1. To download the hw4-serial bluetooth driver for Windows, click here.

2. You’ll immediately be asked to “Save” or “Run”.  Either option is acceptable, though if you choose “Run”, the download process will begin automatically.  With the “Save” option, you’ll have to choose a location to save the file.  If you save the file, be certain to save it to the desktop or some other location that is easily found.

3. Once the download is finished, double click on the file labeled CDM20814_Setup.exe.  Click <Run>.

4. Window will appear saying, “Installing Driver”. This window will simply disappear once the driver has installed.

5. Check Device Manager for bluetooth recognition.

a. Open Start menu, right-click over Computer and choose Properties.

b. Click Device Manager (vista,7: link on left-hand side. XP: hardware tab).

c. Look for Ports in the devices listed. If Ports is listed, click the adjacent plus sign and look for USB Serial Port with COM number (e.g. COM4).

*Computers utilizing professional security software may require multiple driver installation before recognition. However, if failure continues try a different USB port and repeat the process*

Solution 4.

Check Fireplug Switch. Do not move any of these switches! During this step you should only look at the switches.

1. Hold USB end of the Fireplug with the serial number facing you.

2. See small white switches labeled 1-4.

3. ONLY #4 should be switched UP. If it has been pushed down, simply push it back to the up position.

If any other switches have been moved, you will need to schedule an appointment with Technical Support at +1 828-676-2242. The bluetooth adapter and Play Attention interface box will need to be shipped back to technical support.
