Hardware Setup (Fireplug)

1. Start Play Attention (double click PA icon from desktop).

2. Login as username: system password: admin

3. Ensure Bluetooth Adapter is plugged into the computer. The LED should blink.

4. Strap on the armband (interface unit should have two AA batteries, be in the armband sleeve, and the blue cable from armband plugged into the front). Power the interface box on by pressing the red button.

5. The armband sensors should be making skin surface contact. The armband can be worn anywhere on the arm or leg. The armband should be snug and not able to slide off.

6. Go to the <System> menu then click <Setup>

7. The first field <Type> should say HW4-serial

8. The <Location> Line should be blank. Erase any characters that appear there. (On Mac OSX you must open a "Terminal" window and enter the following command. ls /dev/cu* The output of this command will contain the location which needs to be cut and pasted into the Location field in Play Attention.)

9. Click Submit. A Red Bar will appear at the top of the screen that says "Hardware options saved."

10. Click the Tab that says "Hardware Test." Click the red "Test" Button.

11. A separate screen will appear and run a quick test. This window will automatically close. If the test passed you will see 100% in that dialog.

12. Click on the <Home> Tab

13. Go to Attention Stamina and click Beginner. Now click the red <Play> button to start the game.

14. Once the game begins focus to get the character to the bottom of the screen. When successful purposefully distract yourself (i.e. tap feet, fidget, etc) and make sure the character responds by going towards the top of the screen.

15. If character is responding successfully hit ESC on the keyboard. Click YES to quit, and YES to save data.

16 Ensure data results appear (Attention percentage). Click DONE.

*It is important that you only take the armband off after you have quit the game, and turned off the unit. Always stop the game and turn off the unit before removing the armband. Play Attention is continuously tracking and storing your data. If you take off the armband during game play, Play Attention is going to store false data and may need to be sent back for recalibration.

*The bluetooth adapter must be plugged into the same USB port each time you use Play Attention. We recommend leaving the bluetooth adapter plugged in to your computer. If you remove the adapter, please make note of the USB port used.
