Macintosh Hardware Test

Plug in USB adapter, you will click on 'Go' from your desktop menu and then click 'Utilities'.  Locate 'Terminal' in the list and click to open. Once the window is open, copy and paste the following command into the box and hit enter:

ls /dev/cu*

You will then select and copy the device information that has "usbserial" in the description (for example: /dev/cu.usbserial-A10182TK ).  Make sure you do not copy any spaces before or after the device description.

Open Play Attention from your Applications menu, and log in with the following credentials:

Username: system

Password: admin

Click 'System' and then 'Setup'  You will now paste the device description that you copied into the Location text box under the Hardware tab.  Also, make sure that your Hardware Type is designated as "hw4-serial"  Click 'Submit' and then click the Hardware Test tab.  Now click the red "Test" button and a new terminal window should appear that will show the hardware test occurring.  Once it has reached 100%, you can click the red circle to close the hardware test window.
