Hardware Test

This test will assure you that the Interface Box and the Bluetooth dongle are paired and communication with the Play Attention software is working.

 
1. Start Play Attention (double click PA icon from desktop).

2. Login as username: system   password: admin

3. Ensure Bluetooth USB Adapter is plugged into the computer. (There should be a blue LED blinking.)

4. Strap on the armband (interface unit should have two AA batteries, be in the armband sleeve, and the blue cable from armband plugged into the front). The LED light should be solid red when turned ON (first blinks green twice, then goes to red) the LED will flicker green during game play. 

5. The armband sensors should be making skin surface contact. The armband can be worn anywhere on the arm or leg. The armband should be snug and not able to slide off. 

6. Go to the <System> menu and click on <Setup>. 

In the setup tab select the Bluetooth Type for your particular equipment.

HW4-serial = Blue dongle

HW4 = AZIO or Zonet dongle

HW2-pc = Legacy Helmet and "Edufeedback" Black Box

The Location field should be blank; delete any characters that may be there.

Click on the <Submit> button. A solid red banner will appear near the menu bar saying "Hardware Options Saved."

7. Click on the <Hardware Test> tab and click <Test.> A black command prompt window will appear and run through a short test. Once complete the window will auto close in 15 seconds.

8. Click on the <Home> menu.

9. Go to Attention Stamina and click Beginner. Now click the red <Play> button to start the game. 

10. Once the game begins focus to get the character to the bottom of the screen. When successful purposefully distract yourself (i.e. tap feet, fidget, etc) and make sure the character responds by going towards the top of the screen.

11. If character is responding successfully hit ESC on the keyboard. Click YES to quit, and YES to save data. 

12. Ensure data results appear (Attention percentage). Click DONE.

The HardwareTest is now complete. BEFORE removing the armband, press the red button on the armband unit to turn it off. Once light is off, you can then remove the armband. 

*It is important that you only take the armband off after you have quit the game, and turned off the unit. Always stop the game and turn off the unit before removing the armband. Play Attention is continuously tracking and storing your data. If you take off the armband during game play, Play Attention is going to store false data and may need to be sent back for calibration. 

*The bluetooth adapter must be plugged into the same USB port each time you use Play Attention. We recommend leaving the bluetooth adapter plugged in to your computer. If you remove the adapter, please make note of the USB port used.
